Richard Mckee's Obituary
Richard Mckee age 62 of Jefferson Hills passed away at the hospital, hand in hand with his wife, on October 3rd, 2021.
He was born and raised in Pleasant Hills PA on October 7th, 1958 to his late parents Richard P. Mckee and Louise Mckee (Wier). He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Mckee (Manuel); his son Anthony Mckee; daughter Anne Culotta (Mckee); granddaughter Harper Culotta; grandson Luca Culotta; sister Sharon Davis (Mckee); sister Shelley Salka (Mckee); sister Melinda Davis (Mckee) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard, “Rick”, “Ricky” or “Big Rick” were some of the many loving names he was called by the numerous groups he spent his days with. Rick truly was a “Born here live here die here” local of the Pleasant Hills/Jefferson Hills area. He grew up with neighbors and even into this school year drove their grandkid’s school buses to the same schools he attended with his sisters. Including “Dancing on the Bus Fridays” for the Kindergarteners. Rick began his career in the Navy for 4 years ultimately following his now wife to her hometown in the Philadelphia suburbs. After a few years, they moved back to Pittsburgh and he went on to serve 34 years in the Air Force reserves at the 171st Air Refueling wing reaching Chief Master Sergeant status in 2014. In 1989 he and his wife started their family with the addition of their son and completed it with the birth of their daughter in 1993.
If you know Rick, retirement was not truly retirement. He went on to be the service manager for a lifelong friend’s medical repair company and ran the safety team at Peter’s Creek Baptist Church for a number of years. When he retired a second time, he began driving buses for K-12 in the neighborhoods he grew up in. He was a part of multiple sports teams throughout the years, coached his son’s Special Olympics leagues, lead church youth groups 6-12th grade and was a mentor to many. In his last year, he spent his summer days at the same lake his parents built a community with his family, siblings, nieces and nephews over the years. We take comfort in knowing he’s sailing the waters of heaven with his Creator catching more Walleye than he ever could here with us.
Family and friends will be welcomed for visitation on Friday, October 8th, 2021, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236.
