Richard F. Devine's Obituary
Richard Frank "Dick" Devine age 89, of Baldwin, was reunited in death with his beloved DJ on Thursday, January 05, 2023. Born July 1, 1933 to William and Katherine (Esser) Devine, Dick was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as hospital lab technician in South Korea. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he worked 40 years as an analytical chemist at Calgon Corporation prior to retiring in 2000. He also served his community as an EMT/Treasurer of the Baldwin EMS and as a money-counter at the Church of the Nativity in South Park.
Dick was involved with sports throughout his life: as a participant (baseball, softball, bowling, golf), a coach (PHARA Muckrakers & Pittsburgh Rebels) and an organizer (Jr. Olympics wrestling, Baldwin-Whitehall Youth Wrestling). An avid photographer, he could also be found mat-side at Baldwin wrestling matches and along the sidelines at football games, taking pictures and making prints for the athletes. In recognition of his contributions to Baldwin-Whitehall wrestling, he was inducted as one of the few non-wrestlers/coaches into the Brotherhood of Wrestling in 1996.
Dick was preceded in death by his siblings William, Evelyn, Edward, Robert, Virginia and Roy. He is survived by his sons Rick, Dave (Sandra), Neal (Karen), Bill, and Jim (Beth). ; his grandchildren Brittany and Mary Jean Devine, Christopher and Sean Devine, Joseph and Emily Devine, Abby and Megan Devine, Sara Yingling, Nicole Hornyak and Jen Becvinskas; and his great-grandchildren Deacon, Ryker and Ezra Yingling, and Isabelle and Isaiah Glasscock. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh.
A Blessing Service will be held in the Funeral Homes Chapel on Wednesday, January, 11 , 2023 at 12 pm.
