Richard D. Rys' Obituary
Richard D. Rys, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024, in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on August 22, 1957, in Erie, PA, he was the son of Richard and Allegra Rys.
Family was the cornerstone of Richard's life. He was a loving father to his children, Katie (Anthony) DeMarco, Eric (Bree) Rys, and Thomas Sholock. His role as a father extended as he shared a special bond with his grandchildren, Mycah, Cayde, and the soon-to-arrive third grandson. He is also survived by his former wife, Diane Rys and his siblings, Autumn, Dan, Sandy and Tim.
Richard's interests were a reflection of his personality - genuine and unpretentious. He was an avid member of the bowling league "Rascals" at Spins Bowl Pittsburgh where his competitive spirit and friendly demeanor made him a favorite among his teammates. His love for the Pittsburgh Pirates was more than just a pastime; it was a passion that he shared with those around him, creating lasting memories at many a game.
A man who found joy in the outdoors, Richard took great pleasure in working outside, especially when it involved grass cutting and landscaping.
Richard's simple approach to life was perhaps best exemplified by his cherished cat, Ginger, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship.
