Raymond J. Tadder's Obituary
Raymond J. Tadder, age 97, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Raymond was born on July 3, 1927, the son of the late Raymond and Nellie Tadder.
Raymond is survived by his children, Roy W. Tadder, Debora J. (James) Humbert and Patricia A. Tadder; a grandson, William (Jessica) Warnock IV; and great granddaughter, Ophelia Warnock. He also leaves his good friend and neighbor, Lois, and his faithful canine companion, Cody.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hilda Tadder; and his brothers and sisters, Edna Reiser, Dorothy Worsley, William Tadder, Robert Tadder, Walter Tadder, Delores Jozefowicz.
Raymond proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years before his retirement in 1969. Throughout his remarkable career he was a staff sergeant, served in the military police and was a presidential guard for President Nixon.
Following his retirement, Raymond enjoyed several other jobs at the former Isaly’s, Budget Gourmet, and United Dairy Farms. In his free time away from work he enjoyed gardening. Raymond was an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports and could often be found enjoying a John Wayne movie or one of his favorite old westerns. Above all, his greatest joy was the time spent with his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service in honor of Raymond will be held in the chapel at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 am. Burial with military honors to follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
The family extends a special thank you to the VA ICU Third Floor, especially nurse Penny, for their dedicated care and compassion throughout this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Raymond may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to the Salvation Army, 6150 Mountain View Dr, West Mifflin, PA 15122.
