Raymond J. Knavish's Obituary
Raymond Joseph Knavish, 60, of Pittsburgh's South Side, previously of Baldwin, passed away after an unexpected medical episode on March 24. He is survived by his mother, Patricia (Shay) Knavish; siblings Christine Stewart, Timothy (Lisa) Knavish, Diane (Nicholas) Campano, and Brian (Stacey) Knavish; nephews Cory (Briana) Campano, Jordan (Hannah) Campano, Alex Stewart and Evan Stewart; nieces Kylie (Cameron) Metcalf, Mia (Ben Debolt) Knavish, Megan (Luke Nellis) Campano, Abbey Stewart, Samantha Knavish, Maria Knavish and
Keira Campano; close friends Ken Kozikosky, Karen Sergia, Mike Suddes and David Wible; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Dennis Knavish.
Ray proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, and the pride he had in and the sacrifices he made for the Marines are difficult to put into words. A man of strong faith, Ray partook in his daily "religious reading," including the Bible and books by his favorite authors, Joel Olsteen and Billy Graham.
Ray had passion for lifting weights, and in his younger days, he was a talented wrestler. He enjoyed rock 'n roll, movies and many TV shows, but he would never miss an episode of "Survivor." He also loved his yearly trip to the beach. With a true heart of gold, Ray loved giving. Whether it was treating his friends to pizza or buying Christmas presents and vacation souvenirs for nearly everyone he knew, Ray was always looking to make others happy, despite the health challenges that plagued him throughout his life.
He especially loved his 11 nieces and nephews, calling himself "blessed" to have them in his life. In turn, they all loved their Uncle Ray dearly.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 28 at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 120 Abington Dr., McMurray, PA 15137.
