Raymond R. Allan's Obituary
Raymond R. Allan, 94 of Clairton, passed away on December 31st in Jefferson Hospital after a valiant effort against Covid. He showed strength until the very end. Born on February 26th, 1926 in Homestead, Ray grew up in Dravosburg as the oldest of four siblings and entered the Navy in 1944 to Serve in World War II. After returning from the war Ray continued to work for US Steel until retirement. After retiring, Ray worked as a security guard for many years at the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh where he made many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Milly Allan (Clark) of Clairton; recently, the two were able to spend two days together after being apart for many months. Ray is survived by his children, Scott Allan (Malai) of Las Vegas NV, Amy Allan (Dan) of South Park, Beth Allan of Lakeland FL, Celeste Mackulin (Kevin) of West Mifflin and Christine Allan (Michelle) of Cranberry Township; a sister, Margrete Lombardo (Ronald) of Elizabeth. Not only was he the best Dad, he was also the sweetest “Pappy Ray” to Savannah, Alex, Mia, Emma, Purity, Connor, Liam, Blaze and Stella. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents Rollo and Louise Allan he was preceded in death by brother, Robert Allan and a sister, Shirley Abels.
He was known for being well versed in WWII history and for always taking walks around Clairton. His gentle demeanor will be missed beyond measure.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Inurnment in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Raymond's name may be made to The Carnegie Museum of Natural History, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
