R. Everett Burns' Obituary
R. Everett Burns, age 79, of West Mifflin, formerly of Hazelwood, passed away peacefully at home on November 17, 2021.
Everett is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Ann (Molnar) Burns; children, Everett (Carleen) Burns, Nicole (Wes) Howard and Justin (Kiley) Burns; grandchildren, Stefan, Abigail, Catherine, Brock and Cooper; sisters, Donna Wilding, Patricia Saloga; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Kathleen Burns and his grandson, Michael.
Everett graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960, attended Duquesne University and graduated with a degree in business administration. Everett possessed the entrepreneurial spirit and went on to open and develop many businesses, the latest being a garage company from which he retired. He was an active member of Holy Spirit Church in West Mifflin.
Everett had a genuine love of sports. He coached baseball for West Mifflin, McKeesport and Serra Catholic. He had the pride of many successes, including the Palomino World Series in California in 2000, won the NABF in 2003 and in 2004 and coached his grandson's team to the RBI Championship at PNC Park. He also coached basketball at St. Elizabeth.
He loved to listen to all kinds of music and enjoyed history, especially the Civil War.
Everett knew how to tell a story and always commanding the attention of the room. Everett's pride and joy was his family. He had a booming personality which will be missed greatly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 22nd at 10 A.M. at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, Holy Spirit Worship Site, 2603 Old Elizabeth Road, West Mifflin, PA 15122.
