Phyllis A. Gallatin's Obituary
Gallatin
Phyllis A.
Peacefully, the evening of Tuesday, January 10, 2017, Phyllis passed into the loving arms of our Lord. Born May 14, 1924, in Duquesne, PA where she lived until her marriage to George L. Gallatin, Jr. The couple resided in Pleasant Hills for over 50 yrs. where they raised their two children - Nancy (Ross) Douglas and George (Aileen) Gallatin, III who survive. Additionally Phyllis was a loving, doting "DanDan" to four grandchildren Eric (Julie) Douglas, Lindsay (James) Burris, Steve (Laura) Gallatin, and Drew Gallatin. Treasured great grandmother to Luke, Ben, Tyler, Charlotte and Theo Douglas and Eloise Burris; also survived by nieces and nephews and their families. Preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Hulda Anderson, beloved husband George, brother and sister in-law Jack and Jean Anderson and nephew Jack Anderson.
Phyllis was proud of her Swedish heritage. True to her roots she was a strong willed, caring, stubborn, coffee-loving Swede. That same strength helped her deal with a 50 year struggle with active Rheumatoid Arthritis. Despite flares and multiple treatments, Phyllis kept pushing through everyday of her life. She loved flowers and gardening and in spite of the RA was able to design beautiful arrangements for the Pleasant Hills Garden Club. Phyllis was a long standing, active member of the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church where she served in the Altar Guild and the Women's Association.
The family would like to thank the staff of Friendship Village and the Practices of Margolis Rheumatology and Three Rivers Orthopedics at St. Margarets for their long-standing care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, Women's Ministries at 199 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 or to UPMC St. Margaret Foundation The Bed Fund at 815 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15215.
