Pearl Hazen's Obituary
Mrs. Pearl Hazen of Friendship Village in Upper St. Clair, PA, passed away April 27, 2020 at the age of 99.
She was born on September 6, 1920, in Cleveland Ohio, daughter of the late Matilda and Henry Radke.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Arthur Hazen, and her brother, Robert Radke.
In 1942 she graduated from Slippery Rock University where she met her future husband, Arthur Hazen. After graduating they moved to Pleasant Hills, PA to raise their family. Pearl taught 2nd grade for over 20 years at West Mifflin Schools and was a longtime member of Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, and the Pittsburgh Chapter of Thimble Collectors of America. Pearl enjoyed many hobbies including collecting thimbles & bookmarks, needle work, sewing, and most notably making her beautiful quilts.
She is survived by her son Jim Hazen (Nancy) of Saxonburg, PA; daughter Joy Cobb (George - deceased), of Glen Allen, VA; three grandchildren Tim Hazen (Erin) of Solon, IA; Ashley Burney (Doug) of Effort, PA; Allison Bolyard (Andrew) of Glen Allen, VA; and four great-grandsons: Logan & Evan Burney and Anderson & Alexander Bolyard. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
A private burial will be held at the Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Pleasant Hills.
