Paul Joseph Straker's Obituary
Paul J. Straker, 78, of West Mifflin, beloved husband to Carol Straker, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on April 18, 1945, the son of the late Paul and Eugenia (Milkowski) Straker.
Paul was a devoted family man, survived by his wife, Carol, and two children, Jennifer and Kyle. He also leaves his sisters, Terri Piekut and Virginia Kapisak.
His love for his family was evident in everything he did, from his commitment to their happiness to the multitude of family vacations he meticulously planned. His family was his pride, and his greatest joy came from the precious moments they shared together.
A graduate of California University, Paul earned his master’s degree in special education, a field in which he passionately worked for many years. He was a dedicated teacher, committed to making a difference in the lives of his students.
After retiring from teaching, Paul found a second career as a cruise planner with Cruise Planners. With his love for travel, Paul helped countless families create unforgettable travel experiences.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Paul was an avid traveler who loved to explore the world with his family. In addition, he was a passionate soccer coach, sharing his love for the game with young athletes in his community. Paul was a dedicated fan of the Steeler’s who could often be found rooting them on each game. He also had a soft spot for animals, especially his dogs, who were his loyal companions.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a memorial visitation on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 1:00 – 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 11:30 am in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will be held privately.
