Patricia Wolny's Obituary
Patricia Wolny, 81, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on October 30, 2024.
Pat lived her faith every day through kindness and compassion. A gentle, blessedly simple soul, her warmth and caring will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Pat's gift of deeply listening and sympathizing provided support to so many over the years, especially valued during her time serving on the Saint Germaine bereavement team and Ladies of Charity. She showed us how to be a true friend and good neighbor, giving and receiving with grace, through thick and thin.
A graduate of Saint Joseph's nursing school in South Side, Pat's career was dedicated to caring for people at Jefferson Hospital, until cut short by multiple sclerosis. While this and many other challenges came her way, including losing her beloved husband Joe far too early, Pat remained positive, strong, caring and independent. Gardening became a treasured pastime, watching pollinators on wildflowers and birds eating the seeds, pulling those darn weeds, and caring for all of God's creatures.
Mom, you were such a wonderful, devoted mother, always available to listen and support, always proud of your daughter, especially in stressful times. You have been my rock, and my heart is both broken by your passing, and overflowing with love and gratitude for having you in my life. The neighborhood just won't be the same without you. We all know that you are at peace.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Stacie Wolny of Campbell, CA; brothers Ted Burns (Kathy), Joe Burns (Ruth) and sister-in-law Terri Burns.
She is preceded in death by her loving spouse Joseph Wolny; her parents Joseph Burns and Helen Burns and siblings, Jack Burns and Betty Burns-Erfort (Jim).
Friends and family will be received Monday, November 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 4, 2024, at 12:00pm in the chapel.
