Patricia R. Bornak's Obituary
Patricia Rose Bornak, age 86, of West Mifflin, gained her angel wings on Monday, July 13, 2026.
Born July 31, 1939 in Homestead, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Irene Majkowski. "Patsy," as she was known to friends and family was the definition of a social butterfly. When she wasn't gathering her loved ones around her table at home, she could be found playing cards, in the company of her fellow Red Hats, or among friends at AARP, Garden Club of Munhall, and Hallmark Club.
Quick with her wit and renowned within the family for her signature stuffed cabbage and Christmas nut rolls, Patricia also had an incredible work ethic, one she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She started her career in the secretarial department of Bell Telephone, where she carried on until she assumed her most important role as Mom to her three boys. Later, she resumed her administrative career, serving as secretary of the Guidance Department at West Mifflin High School for more than 30 years.
Patricia touched the lives of so many, especially her children and grandchildren. You could always count on her to join you for a game of Old Maid or a chat on the phone, show up when you needed her, cheer you on with her trademark dimples on full display, and make sure you never left her house hungry or empty-handed.
Surviving Patricia are her beloved sons, Michael (Jacqueline) Bornak and Gary (Michaeleen) Bornak; cherished grandchildren, Kira (Brant) Waugaman, Katelyn (Alex) Miner, Michael (Samantha) Bornak, Tyler (Jamie) Bornak, Meghann (Bailey) McIntyre, and Casey (Ray) Yanez; and treasured great-grandchildren Liam, Dylan, Krew, Maximus, Ilithyia, and Aurora. Patricia is also survived by brothers-in-law, Daniel (Phyllis) Bornak and Lawrence (Susan) Bornak, and sister-in-law Florence Bornak; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Just ten days after her sweetheart, Patricia joins in heaven the love of her life and husband of 66 years, Michael Bornak, as well as her cherished son, Scott, parents-in-law, Michael and Helen Bornak, and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Theresa (William) Wright, Patricia (Albert) Gardner, Jerome Bornak, and Bernice (Edward) Noel.
Family and friends will be received at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, with funeral services taking place in the chapel at Jefferson on Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
