Patricia M. Barkey's Obituary
Patricia Maryann Barkey, 78, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born April 18, 1945 in Morgantown, WV, the daughter of Victor and Rose Adams.
For Patti, the world was a stage. She was born a dancer. As a child growing up Morgantown, her talent was on display when her dance performances were featured on local television. As an adult, she spent decades as the choreographer for Baldwin High School musicals and the Harmony Singers choral group.
But her greatest talent was her ability to connect with everyone and anyone. Patti had an infectious personality. Her warmth and kindness was undeniable. It’s what made her such an amazing health and physical education teacher at Baldwin Whitehall School District for nearly 35 years. Her students loved her. And she loved them.
It was at Baldwin High School where she met her husband of 49 years, Charles Barkey. Together they raised a daughter, Sheri, and a son, Charles, in Pleasant Hills where they resided. She was lovingly known as “Gigi” to her three grandchildren, Madison, Cailee, and Ashlyn.
Patti was a graduate of Morgantown High School and earned her degree in education from West Virginia University. She is survived by her daughter Sheri (Bob Brown), her son Charles (Kristie Barkey), and her three grandchildren Madison, Cailee, and Ashlyn. In addition to her parents, Pattti was preceded in death by her husband Charles.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 10am-noon at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc. , 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236, followed by a brief funeral service.
