Olga Baltic's Obituary
Olga Baltic, age 94, of Pittsburgh, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 8, 2021
Olga is survived by her loving sister, Virginia Baltic. Aunt of Patricia (Edward Shortman ) Urban, Mary H. (Jeff R.) Weinert, Michael (Elizabeth Cronin) Urban, Sophie L. Herter, Karen (Fred ) Kahn, Leslie (Malek) Francis, George (Ivana) Baltic, Steven Baltic. Olga is also survived by 8 great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Baltic; Siblings, Sophie Herter, Nellie Urban, George Baltic, Charles Baltic, and Nancy Baltic.
Olga began her working years in the insurance industry, but soon joined the United States Steel Corporation. There she rose to be the executive assistant to Edgar Speer, president and later CEO, working with him until he retired in 1979. After that she spent time as USS's first woman on the buyer staff. Subsequently she became the executive assistant to the conductor of Pittsburgh Symphony, her last position. One of her nieces remembers her talking about taking dictation from conductors Andre Previn and Loren Maazel.
