Norman A. Weise's Obituary
Norman A. Weise, age 92, of Brentwood, PA, passed away peacefully December 28, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Norm, son of the late Alphonse and Regina Weise, is survived by three daughters, Deborah (James) Bevan, Kathy (David) Arbogast, Nancy (Scott) Biddle; three step-sons, Gary (Kathleen) McIntyre, Kevin McIntyre, Scott (Tracey) McIntyre; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Norm is preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah, and his second wife, Carole, as well as his sister Nancy Schott.
Norm was born on September 9, 1931 in Homestead, PA. His best childhood memories were times spent at Hess’ Field with his cousins. After graduating from Munhall High School, he was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War. He considered serving his country one of his proudest accomplishments. The rest of his career was spent working his way up the ladder at Duquesne Light Company. He retired there as a manager of customer services. Known as Duquesne Light’s “Mr. Answer” he often appeared on the local news sharing information about power outages. He didn’t stay retired for long. His work ethic and desire to stay busy led him to be reemployed as a part-time Jack-of-all-Trades in a family business. His motto was “death can’t hit a moving target.”
Norm touched the lives of everyone he met and had an uncanny knack for making people feel special. His kindness, words of wisdom, good humor and impeccable punctuality were always apparent. He frequently responded to a greeting of “how are you” with a reply of, “if I were any better, I’d be twins.” He loved carpentry and the building trades. He never turned down the opportunity to help with a project. He became known as “the man who can fix anything.” From decks to doll houses, he did it all. When he was not wearing his tool belt, he loved watching old cowboy movies and most of all, spending time with his family. He loved his family fiercely and with so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, there was never a shortage of activities and events for him to take part in. Although he held many titles over the years, “PopPop” was his favorite. He never missed a birthday, anniversary, or the chance to say “love ya.” To his family, he was a true superhero.
One of Norm’s best-loved quotes was “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” He lived his life to the fullest with love, compassion, and a belief in paying it forward.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
