Nancy Carol Smith's Obituary
Nancy Carol Smith, aged 83, passed away on September 15, 2024. Born on April 9, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Lenard and Anna Smith, Nancy was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.
Nancy's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her passion for creativity. She is survived by her devoted children, Mark (Jia) Balach, Scott (Janean) Balach, and Joy (Eric) Bogert. Nancy was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who will miss her deeply. She was the loving sister to six siblings and was preceded in death by two. Nancy is also survived by her significant other Dennis Rowan and her lifelong friend.
With hands that wove beauty into the world, Nancy was an accomplished jewelry maker. Her crafty and creative spirit was evident in every piece she created. More than her artistic talents, Nancy was known for her big heart. She was always there to help others, often dropping everything to lend a hand where it was needed. Her selflessness and kindness were her true masterpieces.
Nancy's love for her family was her guiding force. She nurtured and supported her children and grandchildren with a love that was both gentle and fierce. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength, and her legacy will live on through the lives she touched.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 20 at 11:00 am in the funeral home's chapel. Burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.
