Nancy J. Dora's Obituary
Nancy J. Dora, age 83, formerly of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025.
Born on August 1st, 1942, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Nancy was a warm and caring person, whose life was marked by her unwavering love of her husband, family and friends.
Nancy was raised by her beloved parents, Emma Jeannette Reynolds and Robert John Reynolds. She shared a special relationship with her parents and was especially close to her mother spending time together weekly and sharing special memories on vacation trips. Her early life was marked by the impact of World War II when her father was drafted into the military. She and her mother moved in with her grandparents during this chapter. She shared special memories of her grandfather's kindness and the role he played in her early childhood while her father was away.
Her brother, Robert Carl (Linda) Reynolds, was born into the family when Nancy was eight. Nancy was overjoyed to have a sibling and quickly took him under her wing. Their mother returned to work when Bob was five years old, and Nancy took on responsibility for making sure her brother got home from school bus and helped with evening meals. She introduced him to pick-up baseball games in the neighborhood and watched out for him. His children became dear to her including her niece Stacy Reynolds (Mike Runyon) and great nieces, Eleanor and Emma, and her nephew Robert Reynolds (Jeannine Dinella).
When asked about her most important achievement in life, she named marrying her husband, Edward P. Dora. They celebrated their wedding on Halloween in 1971 and shared 53 years of marriage before his passing at age 91 years in April of 2024. She was a loving mother to Denisa Dora and Terri Lynn Klinger. Her family grew to include her grandchildren, Jim Dora, Ray Klinger, and Jennifer Kelsay. Her home was filled with pictures of her great-grandchildren (Donovan, Rowan, Shannon, Cameron, Aerik, Evallyn, Sabrina, Daykotah, and Samantha) and one great-great-grandchild, Ascari.
Beyond family, Nancy served at Highmark Insurance Company for nearly 30 years. She built a close network of beloved friends in her career whom she held dear. She enjoyed spending time with these women seeing Broadway shows, taking trips, trying new restaurants, and sharing the ups and downs of life. She brought warmth and easy laughter to conversations and truly enjoyed the company of others. Her legacy will be her love of family and friends.
