Myla J. Bittner's Obituary
Myla Frances Jones Bittner, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023. Born on June 21, 1923, to the late John A. and Hazel F. Jones, Myla lived a life full of love and laughter.
Myla was the devoted wife of the late William Edward Bittner, and together they built a life filled with joy and family. She was a loving mother to her late daughter, Diane Elaine Palmer, and a caring sister to the late Arlene C. Miller and June J. Maruca. Myla's legacy continues through her grandchildren Samantha Andersen, Jacy (Mel) Atkins, Shane (Kerry) Sembrat, Cody Sembrat, and Cameron (Amber) Sembrat, and her late granddaughter Alicia Sembrat. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Delaney, Peyton, Eliana, Aiden, Lyra, Lily, Caitlyn, Olivia, Sophia, and Amelia. Myla's extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews will remember her fondly for her warmth and kindness.
A graduate of Oliver High School, Myla was a woman of intelligence and determination. She worked at Crucible Steel before transitioning to a role as a bookkeeper for South Hills Volkswagen. Her meticulous nature and dedication to her work were admired by her colleagues and served as an example to those who knew her.
Myla's interests were as varied as they were numerous. She was a talented ceramic painter, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her artistic spirit. She found peace and balance by practicing yoga in mid-life. Myla also had a keen interest in handwriting analysis, a hobby that showcased her attention to detail and curiosity about human nature. A lover of crossword puzzles, she enjoyed the challenge they presented and the satisfaction of completing them. Myla was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for mysteries, especially those penned by James Patterson. Her love for crime dramas extended to her television viewing habits, where she enjoyed unraveling the mysteries alongside the characters.
Myla's love for animals was a constant throughout her life. Her compassion for all creatures, great and small, was a testament to her gentle spirit. But above all, Myla cherished the time she spent with her family. Her smile was a beacon of love and joy to those around her, and her laughter was the soundtrack to many family gatherings. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10 am – 12 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the funeral home’s chapel.
