Michael W. Slaven's Obituary
Michael W. Slaven, 80, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on August 31, 2024.
Born to Cecil and Flora Slaven in Kentucky and moved to Columbus, Ohio at an early age. He worked as a salesman for various companies selling motors and motor repair parts for in the mines, steel mill and smaller concerns. His work allowed him to travel the country. Being an avid golfer, Mike entertained his customers at many wonderful golf courses. Another love of his was acting. He displayed his talent at the Little Lake Theater, South Park Theater, Red Barn and Baldwin Players. His work extended to films and commercials. He found enjoyment in the work and meeting the many actors with whom he got to interact. His love for Ohio State sparked interesting discussions when Penn State entered the conversation.
Michael is survived by his wife Karen Slaven; children James (Rhonda) Slaven, Michael (Carol) Slaven II, Katie Jackson, David (Daniele) Stoehr, and Blair (Abigail) Stoehr; 12 grandchildren; brother Jack (Kathy) Slaven. Preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Flora Slaven.
Family and friends are welcome to join the family for visitation on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 4 at 12:00 pm in the funeral home's chapel.
