Michael J. (Mickey) Papariella's Obituary
Michael J. (Mickey) Papariella peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, with his family by his side after bravely battling another round of cancer. He was born June 18, 1951, and was raised in the South Side of Pittsburgh before moving to Carrick in 1980.
Mickey was truly one of a kind. Ask him anything about sports and he knew the answer. Ask him about a player, he could give the stats and most likely had their autographed card in his collection. After retiring from Pittsburgh Public Schools, he focused a lot of time on his Ebay store which he took such great pride in. Mickey was also a Mr. Fix-It; he was the first one everybody called when something broke or needed fixed. If he didn't know how, he would figure it out. Most of the projects inside and outside of his house were done by him!
Mickey enjoyed different types of music and was always singing or whistling along. He attended many concerts over the years, most recently AC/DC. And when he couldn't be there in person, he liked to watch them on tv.
Above everything, Mickey's greatest joy in life was his family. There are so many happy memories throughout the years of vacations to Ocean City where he would always build the infamous alligator; the summer holiday picnics, pool parties and wiffle ball games. There were also so many laughs throughout the years (ask us about the white tail fox). His 'babies' (grandchildren) were his world and there are no words to explain the bond that they had. He was and always will be their biggest fan.
Mickey will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, Maureen; their children Lisa (Jim) Scott and Kelly Keller; grandchildren, Brianna, Camryn, Trenten and Madison; brothers Jerry (Janice), the late Paul (Rose) and John (Laura); in-laws the late Bob (Irma) Surgent, Cindi (Michael) Abbinanti, and Nadine (Bernie) Stein; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank (Babe) and Florence Papariella and sister-in-law Karen Surgent.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 2-7pm on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA, 15236.
A Blessing service will held at 10am on Monday, August 4, 2025 in the funeral home chapel.
Burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
