Michael P. Bornak's Obituary
Michael Patrick Bornak, age 87, of West Mifflin, returned home to the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Born October 8, 1938 in Homestead, he was the son of the late Michael and Helen Bornak. Better known as Butch, Dad, or Pap Pap to those who loved him, Michael could most often be found watching the Pirates, and working to perfect his garden or his impressive model train platform. He enjoyed traveling, days out at Kennywood, and most importantly hosting family and friends in his home. He was an active member of AARP and the Garden Club of Munhall. Known for his signature blue eyes, expressive nature, and undeniable charm, Michael had an irrefutable zest for life and would go out of his way to help anyone. He brought Joy and humor to every room he entered, it was impossible not to leave smiling after talking with him. An extremely hard worker, Michael was an Army veteran, an accomplished builder and entrepreneur, and a long-tenured employee at Westinghouse's Printing Division in Trafford.
Surviving Michael are his beloved wife of 66 years, Patricia Rose (Majkowski) Bornak; devoted sons Michael (Jacquelie) Bornak and Gary (Michaeleen) Bornak; treasured grandchildren, Kira (Brant) Waugaman, Katelyn (Alex) Miner, Michael (Samantha) Bornak, Tyler (Jamie) Bornak, Meghann (Bailey) McIntyre, and Casey (Ray) Yanez; and cherished great-grandchildren Liam, Dylan, Krew, Maximus, Ilithyia, and Aurora. Michael is also survived by younger brothers, Daniel (Phyllis) Bornak and Lawrence (Susan) Bornak, and sister-in-law Florence Bornak; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He joins in heaven his parents-in-law, Paul and Irene Majkowski, cherished son, Scott, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa (William) Wright, Patricia (Albert) Gardner, Bernice (Edward) Noel, and brother Jerome Bornak.
Family and friends will be received at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, with funeral services taking place in the funeral home's chapel on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:00 am.
