Matthew Louis Wilhelm's Obituary
Matthew Louis Wilhelm, 39, of South Park, PA, passed away on the 8th of August, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on the 4th of February, 1986, to David and Lee Wilhelm, Matthew embarked on a life journey that would touch the hearts of many, from his family to an extensive circle of friends spanning from his earliest years to the time of his passing.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Laurel Kenneweg; his loving parents, David and Lee Wilhelm; his loving brothers Christopher Wilhelm and Stephen (Melinda) Wilhelm; his cherished nieces and nephew August, Aiden, and Juliet; not to forget his beloved cats, Calcifer and Khalessi. He is predeceased by his grandparents.
Matthew had a passion for travel that was ignited during a high school trip to England. This sparked a lifelong love for exploration and history, most notably the Medieval era, which he admired for its richness and complexity. His curiosity and dedication to learning led him to become an avid reader, an interest he fondly encouraged with his nieces and nephew.
An artist and a true Renaissance man, when Matthew saw something he liked or thought was cool, he would devote as much time as he needed to learn how to make it. From painting, home brewing his own beer, woodworking to gardening and cooking; Matthew filled his days with many small joys- and the best Focaccia bread you've ever eaten. Of all the little things he enjoyed, his family and making memories with them were the most important parts of his life.
Those lucky enough to know Matthew would describe him as kind, loving, thoughtful and generous. He had a unique gift for making the unseen feel seen; his presence was a source of comfort and reassurance. As a loyal friend, he nurtured friendships with a very genuine heart, often reminiscing about shared memories since he was two years old.
Matthew's absence will be profoundly felt by all who were blessed to know him. He may not be with us physically, but his spirit, love, and the imprints of his actions will endure in the lives he touched. He will be missed beyond measure, yet celebrated for the extraordinary life he led and the countless lives he enriched.
Friends and family will be received for visitation from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA, 15236.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm on Friday, August 15, 2025 in the funeral home chapel.
