Mary Lou Smith's Obituary
Mary Lou Smith, age 90, of Jefferson Hills, PA, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on September 17, 1935, in Homestead, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Catherine Capicotto Scott.
Mary Lou was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted homemaker who touched the lives of all who knew her. Throughout her life, Mary Lou exemplified the true spirit of love and dedication within her family. She was a remarkable homemaker, known for her cooking and the love she poured into every meal, bringing joy and comfort to those around her.
As a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Mary Lou found great strength and solace in her faith, which guided her throughout her life. Her compassionate nature and zest for life will always be remembered by those privileged to have shared moments with her.
Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Marvin E. Smith, with whom she shared a special and enduring love that has inspired all; sons, Scott (Lea) Smith and Timothy (Terri) Smith; daughters, Karen Podgorski and Catherine (Theodore) Siler; grandchildren, Tiffany, Regina, Rachel, Corey, Tawni, Lacey, and Logan; and 8 great-grandchildren whom she adored.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her grandson Jonathon Cukryznski and her siblings, Dorothy Smithson, Jean Fleet, Shirley Zeleznik, Nancy Pavlik, and Robert Scott.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Thursday, May 7th, 2026, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh PA, 15236. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, May 8th, 2026, at 12:00pm in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home chapel.
Interment will be handled by Jefferson Memorial Park.
