Mary Leech's Obituary
Mary E. Kirsopp Leech
On April 17, 2016, Mary E. Kirsopp Leech, 92, of Aliquippa, PA, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Mary Musgrave in Harrison County, West Virginia on November 22, 1923. She was the third daughter and youngest child of James and Ola (Shaffer) Musgrave.
Mary moved to Pittsburgh in 1943 upon her first marriage. In 1955 she married Matthew Kirsopp and together they raised four children, whom she always called "her pride and joy, the loves of her life and the sweethearts of her dreams." Mary devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, whose accomplishments she was happy to share with anyone she met. She was a huge fan of Pittsburgh sports and spent many happy days cheering on the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. Mary enjoyed being a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church for several years. Despite humble beginnings, Mary lived her life to the fullest, traveling extensively throughout the US and Europe. She was an example and inspiration to all those she leaves behind.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Minnie Smith; her parents; her husbands Arthur Ashcraft and Matthew Kirsopp, who were the fathers of her children and her husband Howard Leech; her sisters, Lucille and Hilda; her beloved brother, Dempsey; and her grandson Michael Robert Dwain Cook II.
She is survived by her children Carol Edgell (Tom), Judy Cook (Michael), Marianne Kirsopp Mauti (Joseph) and Matthew Kirsopp (Kimberly). She is survived by thirteen grandchildren: Tom Edgell, Janeen Shriver (David), Kerry Pritchard (Tony), Amy Burns (David), Shannon Cook, Robert Mauti, Mark Kirsopp (Kari), Matt Krisopp (Ashley), Sean Cote, Maria Mauti, Jaime Heron (David), Wesley Kirsopp, and Daniel Mauti. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
Mary's family would like to give special thanks to Char Suter of Vitas Hospice for her care and support over the past year.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 20th from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Thursday from 11AM -1PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh PA 15236. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 21st at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel and will be officiated by Mary's son-in-law Pastor Joseph R. Mauti of Christ the King Church.
