Mary C. Chernicky's Obituary
Mary C. Chernicky, age 89, of Bethel Park, formerly of Clairton, entered into eternal rest on February 13, 2022.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Steve Chernicky; children, Judy M. (Steve) Kruljac, Stephen K. (Caryn) Chernicky and David M. (Kimberly) Chernicky; grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Kruljac, Justin Kruljac, Jaclyn (Chris) Clackson, Alyssa (Rodger) Davis, Evan Chernicky, Jenna Chernicky and Marena Chernicky; great-grandchildren, Chase, Paige, Natalie and Rylee; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mate and Frances Bekavac; and sisters, Dorothy Sekulich and Carol Ann Brendza.
Mary was a 1950 graduate of Clairton High School. After graduating from the McKeesport Hospital Nursing program in 1953, she dedicated her time caring for others as a nurse at McKeesport Hospital and later St. Clair Hospital. She belonged to the McKeesport Hospital Nurses Association. She volunteered at St. Peter Child Development Center, was a lifelong member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America Lodge #248 in Clairton where she enjoyed picnics as well as listening and dancing to tamburitzan music. She was also an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in South Park.
On October 10, 1953, she married the love of her life, Steve. They raised three children together in Bethel Park. She always looked forward to golfing, dancing and traveling but her greatest joy was her family. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
