Martin Gavin's Obituary
Martin E. Gavin, 81, of Pleasant Hills, passed away suddenly on March 01, 2023.
Martin is survived by his loving wife Rosemarie (Szczerba); brother, John Gavin; brother and sister-in-law of Bernard and Josephine Zelik; also survived by 2 nieces.
Preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Gavin.
Martin was well loved, and made friends very easily. In his early years, he was a marathon runner and later in life was known to walk around his neighborhood to greet his friends and neighbors. He worked as a Nuclear Engineer for many years with Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin, PA, as well as Ontario Hydro in Toronto, Canada. Martin spent time teaching senior classes at the University of Pittsburgh and he was also a member of Mensa. He was the President of the Catholic Alumni Club in the 1970's, and helped organize the 50th reunion for St. Anthony's School at 1776 Mansion St. Bronx, NY.
Friends and family will be received Friday, March 3rd from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Saturday, March 4th from noon until 2 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Regis High School at 55 E 84th St. New York, NY 10028.
