Martha "Virgie" Opfer's Obituary
Martha "Virgie" (Dworek) Opfer, 88, of Bethel Park, formerly of Pleasant Hills, passed away on May 27, 2025. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Martha Dworek and beloved wife of the late James D. Opfer for 56 years; loving mother of Rose Marie Previs (Charles), Gerrie Farrell (Ken) and Debbie Bost (Al); proud grandmother of Jonathan Donelli (Monica), Kelly Reedy (Josh), Stephen Previs (Caitlyn), Chelsea Little (JR), Eric Bost (Joy) and Sydney Saunders (fiancé Liam Rubright); along with seven precious great-grandchildren. She is the youngest of 11 children survived only by brother Theodore (Teddy) Dworek (Pauline) and good friend and pastor Sharon Lopez. Virgie is also survived by many close friends and neighbors who resided in her complex. Virgie often expressed how her neighbors always looked out for one another.
Virgie led a Christian life and enjoyed participating in her church's activities, teaching Kids Sunday School, going on mission trips, and planning social and catering events. She was a florist and enjoyed using her creative talents for bridal showers and weddings. Her specialty was designing entrance door wreaths. Virgie was an avid baker and held the title "Cookie Queen" to all who knew her. Her pizzelles were made fresh almost daily.
Memory making moments were always made while camping or at family gatherings playing games like Bingo.
