Mark Stephen Michna's Obituary
Mark Stephen Michna, passed away on March 3, 2024, at the age of 47. Born on April 14, 1976, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mark was a beloved son to Roger and Barbara Michna, a devoted father to Korey Michna, a caring brother to Monica Michna, and a cherished nephew to his aunts Bonnie Michna, Judy (Charles) Swasy and Debra McFadden and his late uncles, Edward Michna and David Dunlap. He was also a proud grandson to his late paternal grandparents, John and Anna Michna, and maternal grandparents, Paul and Goldie McFadden.
Mark was a product of the West Jefferson Hills School District, where he began to shape his future. His academic journey continued at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) and culminated at Robert Morris University, where he studied accounting. His education laid the foundation for a successful career that spanned over two decades. Mark dedicated 25 years of service including working as a Geek Squad technician at Best Buy, where his expertise and friendly demeanor were well-known and appreciated by both colleagues and customers. His professional life also included valuable experiences at Mellon Bank, Kangaroos, and Winchester Construction.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark was a man of many interests and talents. He was an avid hunter and a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. His love for football extended beyond mere spectating; he played on Robert Morris University's first football team, demonstrating his athletic prowess and team spirit. Mark's enjoyment of sports also found an outlet in softball and golfing, where he not only played but also formed lasting friendships.
Mark's hands were skilled in more than just sports; he was an accomplished handyman. His abilities in carpentry and automotive maintenance earned him the affectionate nickname "Mr. Fix-It" among those who knew him. He was also fondly known as 'Bear' to his close friends, a testament to his warm and protective nature.
His fun-loving personality was a beacon of joy for many. Mark was a man who relished good humor and was often the source of laughter and smiles in any gathering. He had many tight circles of friends, a reflection of his ability to form deep and meaningful connections with those around him.
Mark's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love for his family, dedication to his work, and a zest for life that was contagious. He was a man who could be counted on, whether for a quick fix around the house or for a moment of levity during tough times. His presence was a comfort and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Saturday, March 9 from 6 - 8 pm and Sunday, March 10 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 11, at 10 am at Pleasant Hills Church, 199 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
