Marjorie Ann Snyder's Obituary
Marjorie A. Snyder, affectionately known as Marge to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on February 27, 1934, to Clarence and Faye Kane, Marge grew up to be a beacon of knowledge and joy to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first spouse George Bowers, her second spouse Rolfe Snyder, her children Pam Koons, Vicki Lacek, and George Bowers, her brother Clarence Kane, Jr., and her sister Carel. She is survived by close family and friends.
Marge's legacy as a dedicated biology teacher at Bethel Park spanned over three decades, where she inspired countless students with her intelligence and wit. Her passion for education and her commitment to her students were evident in every lesson she taught. Marge's influence extended beyond the classroom as she was an active member of the Association of University People, where she continued to advocate for learning and personal growth.
An avid bridge player, Marge's strategic mind and competitive spirit made her a formidable opponent and a cherished companion at the card table. Her love for the Pittsburgh Steelers was unmatched, and she enjoyed the camaraderie and excitement of game days. Marge's intellectual pursuits also included a fondness for puzzles and crosswords, activities that kept her mind sharp and entertained.
Marge's musical talents were shared through her involvement with the Friendship Village Chime Choir, where her sense of rhythm and love for music brought joy to many. Her presence in the choir was not only a testament to her artistic abilities but also to her desire to connect with her community through the universal language of music.
Those who knew Marge will remember her for her quick humor and the laughter she brought into their lives. She was a woman who lived her life with a sense of purpose and a generous heart. Marge was loved by her students, not only for the knowledge she imparted but also for the care and attention she devoted to each individual.
