Marie Josephine Stankewicz's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marie J. Stankewicz, a beloved mother, devoted friend, and pillar of her community. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on January 24, 1929, Marie was the daughter of Henry and Anna Mary Wesling.
In 1948, Marie married the love of her life, Norman. Together they built a home centered on faith, perseverance, and unconditional love. Raising their family was not always easy, but Marie faced every challenge with quiet strength and grace. A nurturing and steadfast mother, she poured her heart into her children, teaching them the importance of respect for God and for all people.
In her spare time, Marie found joy in cooking and baking. Her homemade pierogies, German chocolate cake, and cherries jubilee were family favorites-always eagerly requested and lovingly prepared.
A devoted Jehovah's Witness, Marie exemplified her faith through her daily actions and the love she extended to others. She was known for her thoughtful nature, always putting the needs of her family and friends before her own. Those who knew her will remember her warm heart, as she cared deeply for all who crossed her path.
Marie is survived by her children, Norman (Diane) Stankewicz, Velita (the late Kenneth) Kennedy, Janet (Peter Kelly) Sorber and James (Shannon) Stankewicz; grandchildren, Christopher Stankewicz, Dawn (Brad) Lowmaster, Nicole (Barry) Ginter, Melisa Kennedy, Candace (Matt) Taylor, Kenneth (Alexandra) Kennedy, Valerie (James) Winkowski, Anastasia (Alex) Vanick and Alexandra Stankewicz; and her great-grandchildren, Paige Riley, Kaley and MaKenzie Lowmaster, Nathaniel Kennedy, Michael and Jonathan Winkowski.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents as well as five siblings, Henry Wesling, Jr., Louis Wesling, Margaret Mary, Amelia Fay and Pearl Ringling.
Marie's funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 2 P.M. at Kingdon Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2701 N. Charles Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15214. The service will be streamed virtually at Zoom.com Meeting ID: 929 8548 3264 Password:192700
