Marie E. Brooks' Obituary
Marie Ellen Brooks of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 89, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026. She was surrounded by family and comforted by the final anointing of her faith.
Marie was one of seven children to Hilda and Joe Schilling and grew up in a large family full of love. At age twenty, she married Harry S. Brooks and began a marriage that spanned nearly 70 years and set the standard for romance, love and partnership for all who knew them.
Known to her nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors as "Aunt Babe", she will be remembered for her tremendous cooking, rye sense of humor and genuine warmth. A lifelong Pittsburgher, Marie unflaggingly supported the Steelers and Penguins as well as Iron City Brewing. Quick with a joke, casserole or kind word, Marie was also a devoted and cherished member of her Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish.
Above all else, Marie lived for her city, her family and her faith in the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
Marie is survived by her children Sandy and Glenn (Amy) Brooks; grandmother to Allie, Ray (Maddie), Lindsay and Haley; and great-grand Gonky to Scott Harry.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband Harry, following the love of her life less than two months after his passing. She is also preceded by parents Hilda and Joe Schilling, siblings Agnes Geigerich (Paul), Harry Reinhart, brother-in- law Pete Mueller, sister-in-law Betts Schilling, beloved nieces and nephews and baby Donna.
Marie was our moral compass and there will never be another one like her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, the time and date of the Mass is to be announced. Please check back later for details.
