Marge Frances "Bunnie" LaBue's Obituary
Age 66, of South Park/Bethel Park, PA, made her transition to a higher dimension on January 22, 2018, after a long and valiant struggle with Huntington's Disease. She passed away at Asbury Heights Nursing Facility in Mt. Lebanon, PA, where she was a resident the past 21 months. Born in The Bronx, NY, on May 03, 1951. Marge was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Kalina) LaBue. She is survived by her spouse, Sandra L. Huska, with whom she happily shared the past 20 years of her life. She will also be missed by her two sisters-in-law, Elaine Marcinko (Grazier, PA) and Karen Manning (Mt. Lebanon, PA) and their families, especially by her niece, Jill Grzandziel (South Park, PA.) She is also survived by a number of cousins, including Nicholas and Philip LaBue of Phoenix, AZ, and Jean Reeves of Deland, FL. Marge will also be sadly missed by her life-long friend, Kathy Groger (The Bronx, NY), and Kathy's daughter, Jennifer Groger, and son, Edward Groger. As an only child, Marge always considered the Groger's her family, and she had a particular and special love for Jennifer, whom she always called her "adopted niece." Marge spent her life as a nurse and a healer, always putting others' needs before her own. She was inspired to become a Registered Nurse in order to take care of her mother, who also suffered from Huntington's Disease. She received her B. S. in Nursing from Lehman College and a Master's in Psychiatric Nursing from Hunter College, both in New York. She retired from the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale, NY, in 2001, where she was a psychiatric nurse. Marge pursued all avenues of spirituality and healing, and successfully applied them in both her professional and personal lives. She was particularly proud of being a Reiki Master for many years (even before it became popular) and she helped countless others through this energy healing modality. Marge loved to travel and had a goal to visit all 50 states by the age of 50-- which she accomplished. She also visited Great Britain, Italy, and Switzerland (among other countries) with her spouse Sandy and enjoyed quite a few cruises, including two to Alaska. Marge, an avid history buff, followed politics with a passion. She and Sandy lived "the good life" on Florida's Gulf Coast near Bradenton for 9 years during their retirement, enjoying the sunshine and dolphins, before returning to Pennsylvania in 2013 to be nearer family. Marge was a loving partner and friend, and always stood up for the "underdog." She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and caring to all that knew her. There will be no viewing and a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marge's name to the Huntington's Disease Society of America or to the Bridges Hospice Program (Bridges Foundation), 1200 Gulf Lab Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 that provided Marge with such excellent, compassionate care. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, Statue of Liberty Mausoleum in the Garden of Freedom, 401 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15236.
