Margaret "Peggy" Schmidt's Obituary
Margaret "Peggy" Schmidt, 78, of Pleasant Hills, PA. passed away on January 6, 2026.
In professional life, Peggy went into the work force after being a stay-at-home mom to her beloved children. She obtained her Associates in Accounting and went on to work for the Daily News in Mckeesport until her retirement.
Peggy lived a vibrant life that she filled with adventure and love. She greatly enjoyed Polka dancing, even traveling overseas with her Polka group to Poland. Her traveling extended to England and France with the Eastern Star and cruises with her daughter to Hawaii. Peggy was very active in her community and church; volunteering at the Cloverleaf Pantry every Tuesday. Her time spent at Pleasant Hills Presbyterian church was by wearing many hats, participating in weekly Bible study, being a Sunday school teacher, an usher, and being asked to start the Mother's Day Out daycare.
Peggy had many hobbies she enjoyed over the years. Whether it was making crafts by hand with macramé or with stained glass, or tending her beloved garden that made dinner fresh and delicious, she kept herself busy. Above all, her family was the highlight of her life. She adored her children and her grandchildren, and would always make time to go to Baseball and Football games, and Marching Band performances.
Peggy is survived by her loving children Carrie (Chris) Beighley and Brent (Brittany) Schmidt; her beloved grandchildren Owen and Reid Beighley and Abigail and Addison Schmidt.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Carrie Gwaltney; and her siblings John and Evelyn Gwaltney.
At a later date, a Celebration of Life service will be held. Please check the funeral home website for service details.
