Marcella Jean Hvizdos' Obituary
Marcella Jean (Kotvas) Hvizdos, age 96, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025. Marcella was born on April 11, 1929 in Duquesne PA, the daughter of Stephen and Mary Kotvas.
Marcy was a proud graduate of Duquesne High School, class of 1947. On May 11, 1948, she married the love of her life, and together she and Alexander built a beautiful life filled with love and adventure. An active and devoted member of the Holy Spirit Church, where she enjoyed planning and participating in church events.
A wonderful cook and dedicated homemaker, Marcy was cherished by her family and friends for her humor, charm, and continuous support. She found joy in her bridge games with her beloved card club and had a special fondness for the thrill of a big win at the casino.
One of her greatest pleasures was traveling to exotic islands with her husband, creating lasting memories together. Marcy's incredible strength was evident during her fight against stage 4 breast cancer, a battle she faced with grace and resilience and ultimately overcame.
Marcella leaves behind her loving son, David P. Hvizdos, Esq. and his wife, Michele. She was the cherished Grandmother to Aimee Lynne Hvizdos Noel (Craig Noel) and Alexander David Hvizdos. She was the loving Aunt to Christine Hepner (James Hepner) and Laurie Schulte and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Schulte.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 76 years, Alexander Paul Hvizdos and her sister, Joyce Schulte (Kotvas).
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 2nd from 4-8 P.M. at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
A Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd at 9:30 A.M. in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
