Lynn R. Ferson's Obituary
Lynn R. Ferson, age 95, of Finleyville, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of family. Born on September 20, 1930, Lynn was the daughter of the late Matthew and Ida (Bond) Rodgers.
Loving mother of Janette (the late Michael) Jenesky, Marylou Jacobs, and Ronald Scott Ferson; grandmother of Richard (Haley) Jacobs Jr. and Kristen Lynn Jacobs (Christopher Michael); and great-grandmother of Xander R. Jacobs and Grace Michael. She is also survived by her sisters, Eileen (Rob) Ruder and Roberta Gutierrez. Lynn also leaves her beloved niece, Susan, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Russell M. Ferson; sister, Flora Kuwaki and brother, Richard Rodgers.
Lynn made a career in food service as a waitress beginning with Bell Telephone and continuing at The Milkshake in downtown Pittsburgh. Beyond her profession, Lynn was an exceptional seamstress with a passion for the arts and enjoyed music of all genres. She was a talented baker known for her delightful cakes crafted for the birthdays of her children and grandchildren. Lynn had a green thumb, particularly for her garden's roses.
A longstanding member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Lynn served faithfully as a deacon. She was actively involved in charitable endeavors, including her support of the March of Dimes reflecting her spirit of kindness.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service in honor of Lynn will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
