Lydia M. Rozanski's Obituary
Lydia M. Rozanski, age 90, of Whitehall, formerly of Glassport, entered Eternal Peace while surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 11, 2023.Lydia was born in McKeesport on June 20, 1933, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Yocco) Montanti.
Lydia was the beloved wife of the late Matthew Rozanski, Jr.; the loving mother to Matthew (Cindy) Rozanski, Robert (Melissa) Rozanski, and Vernon (Pamela) Rozanski; and the grandmother to Rachel, Amy, Michael, Marc, Jacque, Danny, Matthew and Megan. Lydia also leaves seven great grandchildren, whom she cherished and her brother, Dennis (Susan) Montanti.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lydia was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Montanti and her dear friend, Bob McNamar.
Lydia grew up in Glassport where she attended local schools where she first discovered her passion for learning and the joy of sharing knowledge. In her 30s, Lydia's dedication led her back to the classroom as a student at Penn State McKeesport. Her academic journey did not stop there; she furthered her education at the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her bachelor's degree.
Lydia's professional life was distinguished by a remarkable 20-year tenure as a beloved kindergarten teacher in the South Allegheny School District. Her classroom was a haven of creativity, curiosity, and care, where she cultivated the young minds of countless children with patience and a nurturing spirit.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lydia lived a life rich in culture and family traditions. She grew up alongside many aunts who instilled in her a love for the art of ballroom dancing, a skill she carried gracefully throughout her life. Lydia's zest for dance was matched only by her passion for cooking, especially when it was followed by sharing a meal with her family. The kitchen was the heart of her home, where the aroma of simmering sauce and the laughter of loved ones blended to create an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness.
Lydia will be remembered as a caring and devoted mother, grandmother, educator and friend whose spirit will forever waltz in the hearts of those she touched.
