I’ve been searching and searching for Lorrie as she was very close friends with my mom, Norma O’Shaughnessy and they kept in touch throughout their lives and right up until my own mom’s passing from ALS in March of 2022. They worked together at a nursing home and became fast friends, even “sisters of the heart.” Lorrie knew my mom couldn’t speak anymore but that her mind was fully functioning so I would set the phone on my mom’s bed and let them “catch up.” Lorrie would fill my mom in on all of the latest wonderful happenings and speak to my mom with such warmth and dignity…I know it meant a lot to both of them.
Lorrie was a beautiful human being. She had my number and would call to inquire about Mom and she’d always ask how I was doing, too. She was always so thoughtful about the times that she would call. She would always ask “when would be best?” She knew things were challenging with my mom’s health but she never wavered in staying in touch and maintaining their long friendship. Lorrie definitely served as an inspiration to my mom throughout their years of working together and right up until her passing. Mom never had to wonder if Lorrie cared about her as caring for her friends and family came naturally to Lorrie. I can honestly say that I was inspired by her, as well.
The last I spoke with her, she was leaving Florida with a hurricane on her heels. I said some prayers and knew God would take care of her and her family. I couldn’t reach her again after that. I just happened to do a search tonight and found her obit.
My heart goes out to all of Lorrie’s children in their loss… I’m gonna pray that time has helped to heal your sorrow. I feel certain that all of you know that your mom has been reunited with all of her loved ones and friends that have gone before her and you know that you’ll all see her again someday.
Like my siblings and I, you too were blessed with one of the BEST, most shining examples of a mom that God could bestow on all of us.
May God bless all of you!!!! ❤️
