Loretta Briscoe's Obituary
Loretta Briscoe, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on January 7, 1940, in Homestead, Loretta lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a spirit of giving that touched everyone she knew.
Loretta was the beloved wife of James Briscoe, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage filled with mutual respect and unwavering support. Together, they built a family and navigated life's joys and challenges hand in hand. Although predeceased by her son James Anthony Briscoe, her love for him remained undiminished. She found comfort and pride in her surviving son, Raymond (Donna) Briscoe, and her adoring grandchildren, Alana and Jonathan, who brought immense joy.
Loretta was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Sarah Scholter; her brothers, Bobby and Edward, but the values and memories they shared continued to inspire her throughout her life.
An alumna of Duquesne University, Loretta earned her bachelor's degree in secondary education, a testament to her belief in the power of knowledge and her commitment to lifelong learning. Though she chose the path of a homemaker, her passion for education never waned, and she instilled that same love of learning in her children and grandchildren.
Loretta's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. She took it upon herself to learn Spanish to communicate more effectively with her daughter-in-law, showcasing her dedication to family and her enthusiasm for embracing new cultures. A long-time parishioner at St. Thomas A'Becket, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing solace during times of hardship.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 5th from 8:30-9:30 A.M at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following visitation at 10 A.M at Triumph of the Holy Cross, St. Thomas A’Becket Worship Site, 139 Gill Hall Road, Clairton, PA 15025.
