Lois Irene Skrabut's Obituary
Lois I. Skrabut was born May 15, 1923 in Lincoln Place, PA to her late parents, Martha Elizabeth (Deemer) and William Carl Zeiler.
Lois was the second-born of five Zeiler siblings all deceased: George Zeiler, Altha Zeiler, Janet Fedorchak and Ronald Zeiler. She attended Birmingham Congregational Church on Pittsburgh's South Side. She attended Duff Business School in Pittsburgh, the first mercantile college started in America which was established in 1840. Before graduating, she was hired by Disco/Pittsburgh Coal Company where she worked from 1946 to 1948 until her marriage to Andrew Skrabut on February 5, 1949.
In the 1970s she moved to different cities following her husband who was a superintendent for various construction projects with Dick Corporation: Clarion, PA, Williamsport, PA, Paducah, KY, Atlanta, GA, Metropolis, IL and Gallipolis. OH. Once established in Jacksonville, FL they stayed and eventually moved to Palm Coast, FL for their retirement days. They loved bowling in a league with longtime friends and enjoyed 10 cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska through the Panama Canal, Tahiti, Scandinavia and Russia.
Surviving are her children Donna (F. Patrick) Spec of McMurray, PA and Larry (Candace) Skrabut of Spanish Fork, UT; four grandchildren, Shanna (Josh) Phillips, Kelsey (Ben) Hoffman, Walton Skrabut and Alexandra Skrabut; two great-grandchildren, Emily Rose Spec and Grayson Hoffman. She was affectionately named "little gram" by her great-granddaughter, Emmy Rose.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 5th from 1:30- 2:30 P.M. at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh PA 15236.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Park.
