Linda A. Gross' Obituary
Linda Ann Gross (Schmidt), a loving mother, sister, and wife, passed away on July 23, 2023 in Lake Lynn, PA after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was born on November 8, 1957, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late William and Lillian Schmidt. Linda was a woman of strength, humor, and adventure who touched the lives of everyone she met.
In 1983, Linda met the love of her life, and what began as a simple friendship blossomed into a love story that lasted nearly 40 years. She was a devoted mother to her children, John (Lisa) Berrell III, Timothy (Deena) Berrell, and Amy Michelle (Joseph) Gross. Her love extended to her siblings, Bill (the late Sandy) Schmidt, Sandy (Joe) Schnupp, and Mary Jo (Donnie) Schmidt. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Debbie Ventrone.
Linda was a dedicated employee of Pittsburgh Mailing Systems for over 30 years. Her work ethic was admirable, and she was valued by her colleagues and superiors alike. She brought a sense of humor and joy to the workplace, making it a brighter place for everyone. Even after her retirement, Linda remained close to many of her former coworkers, a testament to the lasting relationships she built during her time there.
A true lover of nature, Linda came from a family of campers. She cherished the times she spent on the water, often sharing these moments with her partner, Mark at their home in Lake Lynn, PA. Whether on a boat or at the beach, Linda was happiest when she was near the water. Her adventurous spirit often led her to explore new places, always ending up near a body of water. However, it wasn't just the water that Linda loved. She also had an infectious zest for life and was known for her inability to sit still. She was always on the move, whether it was planning the next family gathering, trying out a new recipe, or simply enjoying a walk in the great outdoors.
Above all, Linda was a family woman. She found her greatest joy in raising her children and caring for her family. Her home was a place of love and laughter, where everyone was welcome. She had an ability to make even the simplest of moments feel special, and her love for her family shone through in everything she did.
Linda will be remembered for her loving nature, her sense of humor, and her adventurous spirit. Even in the face of adversity, she remained positive and continued to spread joy and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the memories they shared. Linda's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the beauty of a life well-lived. Her legacy will continue to inspire her loved ones and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
