Leroy E. Cain's Obituary
Leroy Edward Cain, son of the late Elmer Cain and Ellen Haywood was born on May 8, 1939 in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania. He was a truck driver in his early years and worked for Marracini’s when he put down roots to raise a family. At an early age, Leroy was a volunteer fireman for the Forward Township Firehall. He was baptized with his grandson Kristopher Cain Hovan at Pine Run United Methodist Church.
Leroy was united in marriage to Jean Ruth Martin on June 23, 1971 - where they continued to grow their relationship for over 49 years. He was a loving father of 4 children.
Leroy was known to many as the ‘Bike Man’. For years he worked on bikes as a hobby and would often be called upon by neighboring kids to repair a bike that popped a chain or somehow got a flat. You would often see him cutting the grass on his riding mower for not only his yard, but half of the neighborhood. His favorite past time was attending Bingo with his wife, and the many friends he made at the Broughton Firehall.
Leroy had a rough exterior but was soft and sweet at his core. He would do any favor needed by family or friends - Always there if you needed a helping hand. Leroy departed this life in the presence of family at his home in Clairton, Pennsylvania after succumbing to long fought battle with cancer. He was proceeded in death by his brothers James, George and Howard and his sister Catherine.
His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Bill Cain, Carrie Cain Hovan, Lisa Cain Miller and Chad Cain; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother Thomas Cain; sister-in-law JoAnn Cain; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 26th from 9AM- 12PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service will follow at 12:30 PM at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery where Leroy will be laid to rest.
