Leah Rae (Reeping) Altares' Obituary
Leah (Reeping) Altares, age 35, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, (formerly of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania) lost the battle for her life against drugs and alcohol on July 3, 2022. Just like so many before her, she could not get ahead of this monster that is addiction.
Cherished wife of Peter Altares, mother to Elliott, Declan and Liam, and survived by her mother, Ellen (Ronick) Reeping, father, Michael Reeping, and brother, Paul.
Leah was loved by family and strangers alike. Her sense of compassion and love for others shone brightly to all those who knew her. Peter states that passersby often commented on Leah’s awareness of others’ needs and her genuine care for all people. Leah was a lover of music, and as a talented musician, had performed in her high school band, participating in multiple state competitions as a clarinet and bass clarinet player.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15236 from 2-6 P.M. A memorial celebrating the life of Leah will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Leah’s name to Hungry for Music, a charity helps place instruments in the hands of young, aspiring musicians who cannot afford one themselves. Those who are able can make their donation at https://hungryformusic.org/make-a-dedication-donation/.
