Lawrence George Murin's Obituary
Age 80, of South Park Township, formerly of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 18, 2018. Loving husband of 56 years to Margaret; father of Sheila (Tony) Fant, Laura (Bruce) McCurry, and Suzanne (Thomas) George; doting grandfather of Luke (Sarah) McCurry, Patrick Fant, Grace McCurry, and Mary Fant; step-grandfather of James (Laura) Fant, Glen (Anne-Marie) Fant, John George, and Elizabeth George; great-grandfather of Harley Fant and Jamie Fant; son of the late Michael and Sophie Murin. Lawrence served in the Army National Guard and will be buried with full military honors. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 712, and an honorary member of the Riders. He was also a member of Anthony Arms, Clairton and the Millvale sportsman clubs. He was a 1955 McKeesport High School graduate, retired from Westinghouse with 42 years of service, and was a past president of Optimist International. Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 22, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. An American Legion service will be held on Friday at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 23, 10 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, South Park. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) or the Celiac Disease Foundation (celiac.org).
