Lauren Marie Chapman Ruiz's Obituary
Lauren Marie Chapman Ruiz, Age 31, of Walnut Creek, CA (formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, and San Diego, CA), passed away on September 29, 2018. Beloved Wife of Miguel; Mother of Elizabeth and Samantha; Daughter of Laurence and Kim Chapman; Sister of Christopher Chapman and Matthew Chapman.
Lauren was a Senior User Experience Designer with a Masters Degree in Design from Carnegie Mellon. Her masters thesis focused on the design of service systems for chronic illness, and her full time career focused on improving the experience of healthcare patients, most recently at John Muir Health. In addition, as adjunct professor, she lectured at Carnegie Mellon University, California College of the Arts, and UC Berkeley’s Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation. She believed designers can make a difference in people’s lives when they apply courage and empathy to their work. She regularly volunteered her design skills at the Answering TTP Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home's chapel on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10 am.
