Larry Lee Sheatsley's Obituary
Larry Lee Sheatsley, a cherished family man, skilled gardener, and classic car enthusiast, passed away at the age of 88 in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania on August 6, 2023. Born to Roy and Martha Sheatsley on June 24, 1935, in Canton, Ohio, Larry led a life characterized by generosity, love, and selflessness.
Larry was the loving father of Larry (Jylene) Sheatsley Jr., Mark (Edda) Sheatsley, and LeAnn (Paul) Ferry, all of whom he shared with his beloved wife of 64 years, Shirley Ann Sheatsley. Larry was a proud grandfather to Kyle, Kyra, Allen, and Ryan Sheatsley, as well as Tyler (Olivia) and Trevor Ferry. He was also a great-grandfather to Elizabeth "Ellie" Frey. Larry is also survived by his brother, Paul Sheatsley. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, Roy and Martha Sheatsley, and his brothers Dale and Robert.
Larry was a man of many passions. He loved to show his 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie at car shows and cruises. He helped plan events, reflecting his lifelong love of automobiles. He was a member of the National Ford Galaxie Club of America and a past president of the Three Rivers chapter of FGCoA. His dedication and enthusiasm for classic cars were recognized in 2003 when he won Best in Show for his car class at the Carlisle PA Ford Nationals.
Beyond his love for cars, Larry was an avid gardener, often spending time outside tending to his garden and creating beautiful landscapes. He was a skilled home remodeler, a testament to his hard work and dedication. Larry was also a wine enthusiast, and he enjoyed dining out and barbecuing on the grill. His love for music was profound, and he found pleasure in both listening to music and playing the saxophone. Larry was known for his cross-country trips, an adventure he always cherished.
Above all, Larry was a loving man who prioritized his family. He was generous, honest, and wise, traits that endeared him to all who knew him. His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was evident in every aspect of his life. Larry's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all those who were lucky enough to know him.
Friends and family will be welcomed for a Funeral Service on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 11:30AM-12:00PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA 15236. Entombment to follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
