Lakyn Marie Shelleby's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lakyn Marie Shelleby, who left this world far too soon on September 14, 2025. Born on July 16, 2006, in Pittsburgh, PA, Lakyn was a vibrant soul whose spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Raised in Castle Shannon, she attended local schools and proudly graduated from Keystone Oaks High School. She was currently enjoying her sophomore year at the University of Pittsburgh, where she had formed many friendships.
Lakyn was an exceptional young lady with a multitude of talents. A dedicated musician, she was a talented tenor saxophonist and had a passion for music, particularly enjoying her favorite artist, Juice WRLD. She also excelled in sports, having been a competitive swimmer from an early age, an energetic soccer player, and an accomplished martial artist who achieved her first-degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. Her tenacity and dedication were evident in all that she pursued.
In her professional life, Lakyn demonstrated a strong work ethic as an associate at Sheetz, where she built meaningful connections with her colleagues and customers alike. An independent and passionate individual, she shared her heart generously and was deeply loved by her family and friends. Most importantly, she cherished her family above all else, leaving behind her devoted mother Carly Shelleby, her father Brian Shelleby, her loving brother Nathan Butler, and beloved grandparents Cheryl and Dave Campagna, Rory Crowley and Michael Shelleby, Jr. She also leaves her aunts and uncles, Frances Shelleby, David and Emily Campagna, Jamie Campagna, Michael Shelleby III and Lisa Shelleby; cousins, David Smith, Josh Shelleby, Justin Shelleby, Jaci Shelleby, and Jeremy Snyder; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Services celebrating Lakyn's life will be held at a later date to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shelleby family to help offset the costs of medical bills.
As we gather to honor her memory, let us reflect on the joy, love, and light she brought into our lives. Lakyn will be fondly remembered for her strength, her laughter, and the way she made everyone around her feel special. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
