Kirk Graham Stewart's Obituary
On May 9, 2024, Kirk Graham Stewart, 21, of South Park died unexpectedly.
He was a graduate of South Park High School in 2021 where he lettered in Cross Country, Track and Field, Ice Hockey and Soccer. In 2018, Kirk won a USA Hockey National Championship with the South Hills Panthers. Kirk was a junior at Lock Haven University studying Sports Management. His college achievements included long distance running, especially one mile at 4:16, a 1:56 in the 800m, a 8:48 in the 3000m, a 2:39 in the 1000m, a 4:01 in the 1500m, a 26:26 in the 8km, and a 2024 PSAC Champion alongside his teammates in the Distance Medley Relay. His hard work ethic showed in his sports as well as earning the Dean’s list every semester. He was also a Sports Media Operations Manager during his time at college.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family members: Parents: Bernadette and Scott Stewart, brothers: Connor and Karl, grandparents: Vivian and Vincent Kirk, Deborah Stewart and William and Nancy Stewart. Kirk’s aunts and uncles are Teresa Bender (Ronald), Heather Malky (Derek), Edward Labon (Lisa) and Janea Eichman (Mike). Close cousins include Charleigh, Cameron, Anthony, Madison, Kira, Zach, Dylan and Samantha. Acknowledgements go to his coaches: Brett Adelman, Nicholas Kuquali, and Sam Macioce (ice hockey), Jeff Moyer (personal trainer) and Aaron Russell (Lock Haven track/cross country), as well as his South Park Ice Hockey and Track coaches Derek Podolak, Dan LaBarbera, Darren Marynchak, Jeff Hufnagel, and Sean Strauman.
Family and friends are welcome to join the family for a memorial visitation on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 2 pm - 4 pm and 6 pm - 8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 10:30 am at St. Catherine Laboure Parish, St. Joan of Arc worship site, 6414 Montour Street, South Park, PA 15129.
