Kenneth William Byrnes' Obituary
KENNETH WILLIAM BYRNES (January 6, 1960 – August 6, 2023)
Kenny was known for his love of crafting and painting as well as his wonderful sense of humor. His lifelong battle with Type 1 Diabetes ended on Sunday after a two-week Hospice stay in Pittsburgh, PA. He passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Ken was a graduate of Steel Valley High School and a member of the football team. He loved weight lifting and playing games with his family like D&D and Risk. His dream of joining the Army was crushed due to his disease, but he was proud of our country and often expressed his high regard for the brave men and women in the Armed services, especially those of his siblings and their spouses that chose to serve.
His life on Earth was filled with challenges and much pain. The loss of his leg and eyesight and the long periods of healing were just some of the struggles he faced. Please pray for him to be whole and healthy in God’s great kingdom.
His family would like to thank the Hospice nurses and the nursing home for the care and kindness they had shown him during his time with them.
Kenny was preceded in death by his loving mother Margaret E. Byrnes (Jones), his father James W. Byrnes, his eldest sister Lynn A. King (Byrnes) and all grandparents. He is survived by his siblings: James W. Byrnes (Nice), Timothy D. Byrnes (Patty), Cathleen Diffendal (Mark), Colleen Hisle (Samuel), Beverly Faro (Dr. David), Russell Byrnes, Pauline Rosenberger (Frank), Joyce Ward (Gary), Janis Byrnes, Jayne Byrnes, Tim Ayers (Donna), Chris Byrnes (Desiree) and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
All services are private.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the funeral home at 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 to be forwarded to the family.
