Kathryn H Potts' Obituary
Kathryn Hahn Potts
August 22, 1934 - June 7, 2025
Kathryn H. Potts, age 90, of Verona, PA, passed away on June 7, 2025, at the Harmar Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Harmar, PA. She was the 2nd child, the daughter of the late Adam Hahn Jr. and Kathryn Weiland Hahn of Pittsburgh.
Married to her loving husband, Jim, on September 3, 1955, they raised 7 sons together. Though both resided in the Pittsburgh area, they met while on vacation in Wildwood, New Jersey.
Living the majority of their lives together in Jefferson Hills, PA, they attended non-stop sports, church and school functions and high school and college graduations over the years. Devout Catholics, they and their family never missed Mass at St. Isaac's Roman Catholic Church in Elrama, PA, where Mom was a long time member of the Christian Mother's organization.
She and Dad enjoyed numerous trips on our annual family vacation to Bethany Beach, Delaware. After dad passed she continued the annual tradition for a few more years until health conditions got in the way. Nevertheless, family continued to be important, as she hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas and her Birthday celebrations at her Jefferson Hills and later Verona homes as recently as this past Christmas. Though spread far and wide, family would travel in so that at least once a year, the entire family was gathered for one of these events. During the couple of weeks of her last, and mercifully short, final illness all her sons were able to come home to visit her.
Mom was a 1952 graduate of St. George's High School in Pittsburgh. She later went on to obtain her License Practical Nursing Certificate, working for a number of years as a LPN at Kane Nursing Home.
In addition to her parents, mom was predeceased by her brother Raymond "Bud" (Dorothy) Hahn, her sister Mary Adele (the late Paul) Dolgos, a nephew Joseph Hahn and a great-grandson, Nathan White.
Surviving are seven sons, Bill (Kathy) of Jefferson Hills; Ray of Buford, GA; Chris (Debbie) of Ocean View, DE; Jerry (Jayne) of Verona; Ed (Joan) of Conway; Mike (Talia) of Locust Grove, VA; Jeff (Kris) of Marvin, NC; seventeen grandchildren, Bill, Katie (Chuck), Megan, R.J (Jessica), Adam, Brittany (Kevin), Michael (Jacy), Danny (Abby), Brian (Kat), Monica (Andy), Jon (Pam), Jared (Helen), Jake (Natalie), Lexie (Tom), Nick (Claire), James (Emily) and Emma. Also 20 great-grandchildren; Joseph, Haylee, Mason, Hunter, Charlotte, Everly, Kellen, Lennyn, Stella, Carli, Taylor, Cameron, Austin, Connor, Logan, Madison, Chase, Paxton, Lydia and Guinevere, her siblings Bill (Carol) Hahn, Carolyn (Paul) Bechtold and Barbara Jo (the late Tom) Vogel along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish, 825 2nd St, Verona, PA 15147; on Friday, June 27, 2025. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Mom's favorite color was blue. It would be a nice gesture to include a blue item in your outfit that day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mom's favorite charity, St. Judes Children's Research Hospital. https://www.stjude.org/
