Karen Sue Parfitt's Obituary
Karen S. Parfitt, age 71, of PIttsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025. Her passing, while sudden, came at the end of a long chapter of quiet resilience and grace.
Born on July 15, 1954, Karen was a quiet, steady kind of love-- the kind you could always count on. She offered her support freely, never asked for much, and made those around her feel heard, safe, and unconditionally loved.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend, Carl P. Geiger, who passed nearly six years ago. After so much time apart, they are finally reunited-- together again, just as it should be. She is also preceded in death by her parents George and Shirley Parfitt.
Karen was a devoted stepmother to Carrie (Chris) Koenig and Corrie Geiger, a proud Gigi to Cara, Kayleigh, Claire, Christopher, and Cole, and a deeply loved Great-Gigi to Charlie Ann, Jaxon, and Cooper. Also survived by her brothers George and Rusty.
She will be remembered for the little things that made her uniquely her-- her love of Tootsie Rolls and mint Oreo cookies, her joy in watching Christmas movies no matter the time of year (even in the middle of July with no air conditioning), and her signature farewell: "I love you, please be careful."
Karen was also a talented cross-stitcher, and her beautiful, handmade pieces now grace the bedrooms of her great-grandkids, a lasting reminder of her creativity, patience, and love.
A lifelong animal lover, Karen had many beloved pets throughout her life and leaved behind one very spoiled, chunky kitty with a name better left off the record, but loved all the same.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her neighbor and friend, Beryl Polis, for always checking in on Karen and loving her like family. Your kindness and support have meant more than words can express.
Services will be private and are being handled by Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association of the Burn Foundation in Karen's memory.
